Building a Dedicated Team of CAD Software Engineers for a Client at Jazzros

Hiring externally may seem daunting at first, but once you become familiar with the model, its advantages become much clearer.

 case, we will walk you through the process and demonstrate why our clients get much more than just dedicated employees.

Our Belgian client develops CAD software that automates the engineering process of utility-scale ground-mount and commercial rooftop solar photovoltaic systems. The client aims to deploy an ecosystem of web applications with CAD functionality for the solar industry.

The client needed front end, full-stack, and core algorithms developers to work on their cutting-edge software, but they experienced an acute shortage of local specialists. Hiring talent is the biggest challenge for 16% of software development companies, and even more difficult problem today because of the global pandemic.

Just like our Belgian client, many companies choose to source new employees through outstaffing to form dedicated and hybrid teams to start working on their projects with better talent, faster.

Finding the right match

After concluding negotiations and signing a long-term contract in late 2019, we held a detailed introductory call to understand the client's business, their goals and needs, and how Jazzros can help fulfill them. Following the call, our team received a request for an engineer that would design and develop complex 3D (CAD) web applications in JavaScript (Node.js, Vue.js, WebGL & Three.js).

Automating the engineering processes related to design and creation of solar systems is a complex task that requires specialized knowledge in algorithms, experience in modern technologies, and a strong aptitude for maths. Such candidates are rare and those who fit the qualifications and fit into the company’s culture are even harder to come by.

Jazzros attracts and retains such rare talent because, over the years, we have established a reputation for taking on challenging projects. Highly skilled engineers recognize the complexity of our past undertakings and can find fulfilling projects through work with our clients. We have calibrated our business processes and optimized our organizational structure to make the process as efficient as possible.

Standalone HR and recruiting departments find, hire, and onboard the requested employees. The recruiting team maintains and expands a large candidate pool of vetted specialists that we can recruit quickly and effectively. If there isn’t a suitable engineer in the pool, our recruiters actively look for the right candidate around our offices in Wroclaw and Kharkiv, cities famous for highly technical engineers.

The highly proficient employee we found and onboarded for the Belgian client now plays a leading role in the majority of their projects. A couple of months after the first hire, the client requested two more experienced engineers whom our recruiters hired. A 3D JS Full stack specialist and a C#.Net engineer with expertise and a strong knowledge of math, 3D, and CAD environment. All three engineers are now well integrated and bring their passion and knowledge to the client’s team.

Perpetual development

Unlike other outstaffing companies, our work does not stop there. We take great care in the emotional wellbeing and professional development of our employees. Every two to three months, our HR department holds one-on-one meetings with every team member to get honest feedback about their work, performance, and aspirations.

The HR team then shares the meeting report with the client, which helps to clear up miscommunications and create positive feedback loops. Sometimes, clients may be unaware that our engineers are ready to take on more complex tasks and responsibilities. By bringing these matters to light, the HR team ensures that our employees remain highly motivated and productive.

The technical proficiency of our employees is very important to us. With a dedicated R&D tech department, our engineers are continuously expanding their expertise. By taking our clients’ long-term goals into account, our employees learn the newest technologies that are sure to bring value to their projects. Whether it's cultivating new skills or checking new hires' knowledge, the R&D department allows us to improve the quality of our solutions so that Jazzros can take on progressively more complex challenges in the future.

As a result, our clients get much more than qualified and skilled outstaff employees. They get specialists supported by our business processes that ensure their professional and emotional development. With the full strength of our company behind them, it is much easier to overcome any challenges associated with remote work and outstaffing.

Following excellent work this year, Jazzros will be expanding cooperation with the Belgian client. Our R&D department has already started working on the requested technologies, after which we will expand our team to begin developing the following features:

  • Computer Vision and Image Recognition functionality to detect obstacles, skylights or roofs in aerial images;
  • Augmented Reality to show solar projects in real life;
  • AI part to automate solar panel layout placement to maximize quantity and performance;
  • Speeding up irradiation calculations.

Here at Jazzros, we hire the most promising talent and help them grow through work with our clients. To learn more about how our dedicated professionals and expertise in CAD, 3D engineering and Industry 4.0 can help improve your business, contact us today.
